EAL Update

EAL Update | BSB Sanlitun - EAL Update

This month in EAL, our students have been busy exploring exciting topics that connect language learning with the wider curriculum. Each year group has been practising new vocabulary, speaking in full sentences, and building confidence in reading and writing while having fun with their class themes.

Year 1 explored toys through shapes and fun activities. Students practised naming and describing shapes in English and used them in drawings and games. They are learning new vocabulary while developing confidence in speaking full sentences.

Year 2 students are learning about animal habitats. They described where animals live and what they need to survive. Through reading, writing, and speaking activities, students are building their vocabulary and sharing ideas in English with growing confidence.

In Year 3, we focused on making predictions in English. Students practised looking at pictures and texts to guess what might happen next. This skill helps them become stronger readers and thinkers while also supporting them in using full sentences in their writing.

Year 4 explored museums and how they teach us about history. Students practised using ‘time words’ and describing past events. They enjoyed sharing what they might see in a museum and writing short paragraphs.

In Year 5 and 6, we looked at how museums help us understand different times in history. Students practised reading timelines and using English to describe changes over time. They are improving in sequencing ideas and writing about history in clear, connected sentences.

We are so proud of the progress our EAL learners are making. Each topic gives them the chance to grow their English skills in meaningful ways. Thank you for support at home with your child’s learning journey. We look forward to more exciting language adventures ahead!
