This week, our EAL students have been actively engaged in a range of exciting topics designed to expand their vocabulary, deepen their understanding of grammar, and strengthen their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Year 1 students explored the world of fruits and vegetables. They discussed how to identify whether something is a fruit or a vegetable and learned about where different foods come from. Through hands-on activities, they practised writing, developed sentence-building skills, and created wonderful projects illustrating where fruits and vegetables grow.

Year 2 students focused on the topic “Get Dressed”, learning a wide range of clothing vocabulary. They played interactive guessing games to describe what their classmates were wearing, helping to improve speaking fluency and confidence. Students also completed a classroom word hunt to reinforce new vocabulary and participated in partner-sharing activities to enhance collaboration and communication skills.

Our Year 3 learners began a new unit titled “My Bedroom.” They explored vocabulary related to furniture and played the “I’m Thinking” game to identify classroom objects. Working cooperatively, they also discussed what people can make with wood, combining creativity, teamwork, and language practice.

Year 4 students started their new book, where they met two new characters who will lead them on an adventure to find the lost treasure. They reviewed numbers to solve clues within the story and shared what they are good at and would like to improve, encouraging self-expression, reflection, and speaking confidence.
Year 5 and 6 students explored the world around us, learning about various landforms such as forests, lakes, islands, fields, rivers, paths, and bridges. They discussed their preferences for living in the city or countryside, promoting critical thinking and opinion sharing.

Students also shared personal stories - “Were you a Super Baby?” - and participated in a role play, “At the Restaurant,” to uncover clues connected to their ongoing treasure story. These activities encouraged storytelling, listening, and collaborative problem-solving.
This week has been filled with language learning, teamwork, and creative exploration. Our EAL students continue to show outstanding progress, confidence, and enthusiasm in their learning.
Well done to all our young learners!
