In the spirit of academic excellence, we are thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of our Year 13 students who recently participated in the prestigious British Biology Olympiad.
Organised by the Royal Society of Biology, this international competition serves as a platform for students to showcase their advanced biological knowledge and problem-solving skills.
This year, our school proudly contributed six outstanding students to the Olympiad, joining over 15,000 participants from 900 schools worldwide. Their commitment to pushing the boundaries of their biological understanding and dedication to academic excellence is truly commendable.
A round of applause is in order for all the students who took part, as they displayed commendable effort and enthusiasm throughout the competition. However, we want to shine a spotlight on two exceptional individuals who have truly distinguished themselves.
Congratulations to Fakhriyor: Gold Award We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Fakhriyor for achieving the prestigious Gold Award. Fakhriyor's dedication to mastering advanced biological concepts and solving complex problems has truly set him apart, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence and scientific inquiry.
Congratulations to Hadi: Highly Commended Award We are equally proud to acknowledge Hadi for receiving the Highly Commended distinction. This recognition underscores Hadi's exceptional performance and his ability to navigate through the challenging questions posed during the Olympiad.
As we celebrate these outstanding achievements at BSKL, we eagerly anticipate nurturing the passion for biology and scientific inquiry within our student body. Looking ahead, we are excited about upcoming events such as the Biology Challenge in May for students in Year 9 and Year 10, as well as the Intermediate Biology Olympiad in June for Year 12 A-level Biology students. These opportunities continue to inspire and encourage our students to explore the wonders of the biological world and reach new heights in their academic journeys.
Any Year 9 & 10 students that are interested in taking part in the Biology Challenge are welcome to contact Dr Ainsworth.
As we approach the end of the first term and the joyous festive season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the progress made and celebrate the achievements of our students.
