March 7th was all about books and stories at the British School of Yangon (BSY) as students and teachers came together to celebrate World Book Day. This special day is like a big party for books and the people who love them, and at BSY we made sure to join in on the fun!
World Book Day happens every year on March 7th and is a time for everyone to enjoy and appreciate books. At BSY, we had a whole day of activities to make reading extra exciting and to show that books and the stories within are awesome.
The school was alive with literary legends as students and teachers dressed up as their favorite book characters. From wizards to detectives to ladybugs and athletes, our hallways were filled with the characters we love from our favorite stories.
To start the day, parents joined us for Parent Story Time. It was a special time for families to share the joy of reading together.
During the day, our teachers also did Drop-In Story Time, sharing stories they wrote themselves with our primary students.
As the day went on, the excitement reached its peak with the Best Costume Competition. Students went all out with their creative costumes, and judges had a tough time picking the winners. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up and having a good time.
The whole day was about showing that reading is not only important but also a lot of fun. By dressing up, reading together, and celebrating our favorite stories, BSY made World Book Day a day to remember. It's moments like these that make our school feel like one big family that loves stories and books!
‘Music is a language the whole world speaks’ – An adapted quote from the famous 19th Century Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that still rings true today. Music has always had an influence in every culture across the globe and seems to be intrinsically and instinctively universal.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
We are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey: The British School Yangon (BSY) has officially received accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education that aligns with British standards.
