Your Success Journey Starts Here – Admissions Open for 2025–2026 Academic Year
For Mr. Ben Jordan, Secondary Design and Technology teacher at BVIS, taking part in Nord Anglia’s Teacher Development Programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston was an eye-opening and unforgettable experience. It was a rare opportunity to step into one of the world’s most forward-thinking academic environments and engage directly with some of the brightest minds working on cutting-edge technologies shaping our future.
Throughout the week, he had the privilege of meeting luminaries leading research in groundbreaking fields—cancer research, plasma fusion, and immersive technology, to name just a few. Visiting places like the Plasma Fusion Centre and the MIT Immersion Lab highlighted the incredible possibilities science and innovation offer, not only to transform industries but also to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
A key focus of the week was climate change—its undeniable impact and the critical need for innovative educational approaches to reduce its effects. The sessions encouraged us to reflect on how he and other colleagues, as educators, can inspire and equip the next generation to think critically, creatively, and sustainably.
Beyond the academic insights, exploring the historic and vibrant city of Boston added another enriching layer to the experience. From walking the Freedom Trail to soaking in the local culture, it was a beautiful balance of learning and discovery.
Perhaps most memorable of all was the chance to connect with fellow educators from Nord Anglia schools across the globe. Sharing ideas, experiences, and perspectives with such a passionate and diverse group has built professional relationships and friendships that will last well beyond this week.
“This experience has not only broadened my horizons but also reaffirmed the transformative power of education, collaboration, and curiosity. I return inspired, motivated, and immensely grateful, ready to apply new knowledge and skills to further enhance my DT’s teaching practice at BVIS.” concluded enthusiastically by Ben Jordan.
