Join our next Open Day
Our alumnus William Gargiullo, has recently participated in the World Marathon Challenge. The 68-year-old runner has completed 7 marathons in 7 days, on 7 continents, in sometimes extreme weather conditions (from -10 to 30 degrees).
During this challenge, William supported two associations: Idées'Elles, which supports and guides parents who have suffered a perinatal loss, and Harry's Ride for Research, which aims to raise funds for research into glioblastoma (the most common brain cancer in adults). In addition, the impact of this effort on his body will be analysed by the CHUV (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois).
During the 5th marathon (Madrid), I fell twice and immediately remembered a quote from Nelson Mandela: « The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall ». Isn’t it true?
"That’s the main thing for me, even if my ego took a blow when I read the results of the 6th and 7th marathon! I must say that during the most difficult moments the trio: brain, body and mind worked wonderfully.
Indeed, during 7 days (24 hours a day), you share your state of mind with people of different cultures and walks of life (I think in particular of the two runners in wheelchairs: what a life lesson!).
Again, a big thank you to all the people who showed me their support during these seven days and of course a « big hug » to my family who has accepted my way of life for more than 27 years.“
You can follow William’s sport challenges on his website and social media.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here at Champittet, we know that inspiring children to dream big while envisioning their future is a core part of education. It’s also the focus of Dare All Trades Day, or JOM (Journée Oser tous les Métiers).
The Winter Ball is an eagerly awaited annual tradition here at Champittet, but this year brought a twist: the school’s first ever Masquerade Ball. With the theme “Black and Gold, don’t forget your mask!”, this year’s winter dance was organised by 14th-grade IB students, and the event was open to students in grades 9 and 10.
Who says summer is far away? Registration is now open for the Champittet Leadership Camp!
