Join our next Open Day
Every year, Dare All Trades Day, or “Journée Oser tous les Métiers” (JOM), invites children in Switzerland to join adults in the workplace for some first-hand career inspiration. Pupils in grades 7 to 9 spend the day accompanying an adult of the opposite sex to work. In this way, the initiative aims to combat gender stereotypes in the workplace and expose children to different professions.
For this year’s edition on 9 November, we allowed Champittet students to join their parents at work while we opened our doors to the children of our employees for a taste of professional life. With 22 children joining us in the workplace, this was our biggest Dare All Trades Day yet!
Working alongside adults, our young participants gained insight into a variety of professions, from sports to culinary arts, geography, and science.
The day began with breakfast in our Café 1903. The children then split into groups, each discovering a different professional sector hands-on. One group participated in a sports class; the second group learned about early childcare in our preschool; the third group helped prepare lunch with our Eldora catering team; and the fourth group followed a geography lesson taught in English.
After lunch, a treasure hunt provided the perfect excuse for everyone to explore the many parts of our campus. The day concluded with a wonderful series of scientific experiments carried out in our Villa des Sciences and an afternoon snack.
We hope that this varied programme offered a chance to discover the vocation of education and its many different departments!
By learning to plan their time wisely, students can be more productive, develop great study habits, and create a balanced lifestyle – one that fosters both personal and academic growth. Mastering this essential skill also sets them up for future success.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here at Champittet, we know that inspiring children to dream big while envisioning their future is a core part of education. It’s also the focus of Dare All Trades Day, or JOM (Journée Oser tous les Métiers).
The Winter Ball is an eagerly awaited annual tradition here at Champittet, but this year brought a twist: the school’s first ever Masquerade Ball. With the theme “Black and Gold, don’t forget your mask!”, this year’s winter dance was organised by 14th-grade IB students, and the event was open to students in grades 9 and 10.
