How animals adapt in one of the harshest habitats on the planet

Today the children were learning all about animals that live in the polar regions, both Arctic and Antarctic. Using their knowledge of adaptation, they were working in their Kagan groups to discuss how the animals were suited to live in one of the harshest habitats on the planet. The children were able to answer among other questions :

  • Why are arctic animals white?
  • What keeps a polar bear warm?
  • How does an emperor penguin get into the middle of a huddle?

It's hard to imagine just how cold life at the planets poles would be but through sharing their knowledge the children were able to develop their understanding. Another great example of how team work helps us, another success for Team 2!
