DCIS Rugby squad takes on GEMS, Australian International School and Dulwich College in three hard fought fixtures at Turf City
Tuesday, 20th September saw the DCIS U12 Boys Rugby team play challenging games at Turf City. After a quick warm up, the boys were ready take on their first opponents, GEMS World Academy.
The game got off to a ferocious start with DCIS looking to put on a more impressive defensive display this week. Hard runs and good tackles were on show from both teams and it was difficult to predict a winner. Both teams fought hard but DCIS battled their way into a 15-5 lead with 2 minutes left on the clock. GEMS continued to push and were rewarded for their efforts with a try to bring the scores to 15-10. DCIS were caught napping at the restart and GEMS crossed the whitewash with the last play of the game to make it 15-15 at full time.
DCIS set up for their next fixture against Australian International School (AIS) looking to improve on what was a good performance, yet a disappointing score line from the first game. However, what greeted them was a one-man wonder team and despite their much improved defence, DCIS were powerless to stop an AIS team with outstanding footwork. DCIS will put the loss to the back of their minds quickly and were looking to give a better account of themselves in the third and final game of the day.
Dulwich College lay in wait for the DCIS outfit and having had good result against them previously, it was sure to be a solid game. DCIS started the game strongly and hard runs from several of the boys brought a hard earned try. As play resumed, both teams showed some desperate defence and some flamboyant attack. In a game too difficult to call, Dulwich pipped DCIS to the post after some excellent play by both sides. DCIS will be sure to make up for this the next time the two teams face each other.
Yet again, the boys put in an excellent display of rugby considering how little time they have had together and, with a bit of hard work, they will soon become a force to be reckoned with.

Our Year 7 students went on two amazing trips to Sibu Island, Malaysia, for their year group residential. Surrounded by the beauty of nature and immersed in a vibrant new culture, students had the chance to connect with their friends and make memories that will last forever.
