A Unique Secondary Curriculum

The very best schools in the world are designing their provision to meet the needs of their students and not the other way around. We live in a world where young people need to be equipped for so much more than just examination success - we are asking our youngsters to add value to the world, to change mindsets and to give something back.  

We have made our Secondary curriculum provision real, relevant and purposeful, and together with our unique Nord Anglia Global opportunities and partnerships with MIT and Juilliard we are enabling our students to develop crucial skills for their future.

The vision behind the new enhanced Secondary curriculum at LCIS has been developed to offer an innovative educational model with a solid framework. On a steadfast base of IGCSE and a core of conceptual learning that challenges our students to think on a global scale; our young people are empowered to be the very best that they can be. 

The key MYP elements we’ll introduce are: the Theory of Knowledge, which links back to the Philosophy for Children programme within our Primary School, preparing students for this key area of the Core at Diploma level; the extended essay as a natural progression from the MYP Personal Project and an ideal preparation for the assignment at DP level, and an approach to service learning, one of the pillars of the MYP that our students would carry throughout their iGCSEs as part of their core studies.

In classrooms all around the world, we hear students asking the question: "when will I ever use this in the real world?" - this is a question that every school should carefully consider and one that LCIS is confident will not need to be asked. 

At LCIS we very much want to celebrate crucial aspects of education, absent from performance tables but vital to a happy and successful life. At the same time, we want to equip our Secondary students for the future and give them the opportunity to leave the school or enter the IB Diploma Programme with a widely-recognised formal qualification at the age of 16.

I strongly believe our new academic offer at LCIS is unique in the La Côte region and I’m really looking forward to seeing our Secondary students flourish as they grow into confident, creative and critical learners as well as collaborative and caring individuals  Kate Bradley
