DISCOVER OUR IGCSE SCHOOL IN SWITZERLAND

At La Côte International School Aubonne (LCIS), our 14 to 16-year-olds work towards their IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualifications.

IGCSEs are the world’s most popular international qualifications for this age group, recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide. Borne out of the GCSE qualification used in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the International (I)GCSE is adapted to suit a more global student body.

IGCSEs improve performance by developing creative thinking, enquiry, and problem-solving skills, as well as in-depth subject knowledge. As a result, they are the perfect preparation for the IB Diploma Programme.

THE LA CÔTE IGCSE CURRICULUM EXPLAINED

One of the leading IGCSE schools in Switzerland, our students choose from a wide variety of IGCSE subjects, with no limits on the number of qualifications they can sit. Typically, a student will study each subject over a two-year period before taking exams that assess their knowledge and understanding.

The way students are graded depends on the exam board. At LCIS, we use two IGCSE boards: Cambridge Assessment International Education and Edexcel. Students are now graded on a 9-1 system, with Level 9 the highest achievement and Level 1 the lowest.

Our students’ IGCSE curriculum is complemented by the Theory of Knowledge module, which is a key element of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
