My name is Mark Hendry, I was born in the UK and attended Bradford Grammar School on a sports scholarship for 7 years. Upon completing my A-Levels I studied a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Metropolitan University. After completing my degree, I was offered work in various Secondary Schools as a coach and teacher working with students in both Senior and Junior schools. I loved this experience so much that I decided to complete a PGCE in Physical Education.
During university holidays I worked as Head of Water Sports at Camp Universe in Florida, where I enjoyed teaching the children to Water Ski. My real passions in sport were always in Rugby and Gymnastics which are a strange combination to say the least! In rugby I played at the top flight in England and in Gymnastics I have been British champion on two occasions. My personal passions are now in skiing, snowboarding and playing squash with friends and family.
My 20 years as a teacher and 11 years as a Director of Sport have moulded my philosophy of education to what it is today. I believe excellent relationships, a multitude of opportunities and a genuine passion for seeing children pushing their boundaries, are what will provide students with stimulating and rewarding educational experiences. I am excited to be able to bring my experience and expertise to La CÔte International School and look forward to making a real difference in the sporting provision.
