It is with great pride that we received the news that another talent has started to shine among our students and we would like to congratulate our student Felipe Hontalville, Year 9, as runner-up in 3 titles during September 2002 in the tournaments:

1) Copa Rancho Silvestre tournament in Embu

2) Open Slice Tennis Tournament in Alphaville

3) Junior Open Tournament for Tennis Clube de Mogi das Cruzes

His dedication and efforts to keep his studies up to date, while practicing the sport on a daily basis, has helped him to improve his concentration and focus while teaching him to assume responsibilities with more commitment. Felipe is very happy with these achievements. Fernando Hontalvilla, Felipe's father.

It is fundamental to our core belief that education beyond the scholarship and academic excellence supports child development. Two of our students in year 7 have recently demonstrated success in their co-curricular achievements.

In July, during her vacation, Sophie won first prize in her classical ballet solo in an international ballet competition in Italy - DanzaFirenze 2018. She also participated in the World Ballet Competition Sao Paulo Open in October, and won a Special Mention  and was selected to represent Brazil in the World Ballet Competition Finals in Orlando next April.

Dylan, on the other hand, represented the State of Sao Paulo and went on to win 3 gold medals in the Brazilian National Kungfu Championship. He has since been chosen as Outstanding Athlete for Year 2018 (Modern Wushu) by the Federação Paulista de Kungfu (for the State of Sao Paulo).

He also won a bronze medal for Brazil in the 12th Pan American Wushu Championship in Argentina.

We would like to congratulate the family on these fantastic individual achievements.

At BCB we believe in the holistic development of the whole child, their aspirations beyond the classroom give balance and demonstrate how important it is to maintain this harmony between academic and co-curricular achievements. Our ECA programme supports student pursuits in charity and service in the wider world, sport, arts, and a wide range of other activities.

Lucca Carvalho is one of BCB's longest-serving pupils who is currently contemplating his future IGCSE choices whilst in Year 9. Many of our community know about Lucca's obsession with tennis and his incredible skill in the sport. Lucca has offered tennis coaching for his peers (and staff) and is often competing at an international level in his drive to succeed. During the ultimate weekend of November, Lucca was competing in sunny Florida in the USTA National Campus Level 7 competition. The final of the event was held in the campus' stadium with an eagle-eyed umpire watching over proceedings. Lucca battled hard and risked it all in order to achieve victory.

The staff here at BCB are extremely proud of Lucca's ambitious mindset and all believed he would be able to represent himself at the highest level. On the back of his victory, Lucca has continued his sporting role within the school by attending Nord Anglia's Global Games Event also being held in Florida. We wish him and the rest of his BCB teammates success in their first ever Global Games.

The holistic development of each one of BCB's students is vitally important in supporting the whole student. Naturally, the main focus of our teachers is the development of knowledge and skills within individual lessons but we all know the importance of our role in supporting our students outside of the classroom. Lucca is an example of one of many success stories that BCB students write regularly as they endeavor to achieve both academic and sporting success.
