Year 2 teacher

Studying Psychology at the University of the West of England in Bristol has been an invaluable tool as a teacher. It has given me an understanding of what motivates children, the process of how they learn and how to care for and support their social and emotional development. After completing my PGCE, I worked at a primary school in Bristol and gained my QTS before making the move to São Paulo in 2018.

I have loved my experience of working at the British College of Brazil and being part of the diverse school community. It is an amazing experience to join together as a class with children from such a wide range of cultural and personal backgrounds; it brings a unique opportunity to share and learn from each other. Every day is exciting in the classroom and it is an honour to positively impact the children’s development and getting to see them grow each day.

I’m passionate about developing a growth mindset in our children. By developing a growth mindset, children are not afraid to push themselves in their learning, make mistakes and understand that intelligence is an attribute that can be grown through effort. I am excited to be part of a team undertaking a project to develop a whole school growth mindset ethos, through rewarding positive learning behaviours and embracing challenge.

Living in São Paulo has been a fantastic experience; I have loved immersing myself in the culture and excitement of Brazil. In my spare time, I have enjoyed traveling as much of Brazil and South America as I can - there is so much to see and experience! When I’m not exploring, I enjoy relaxing by reading, cooking and going out to eat with friends.
