Miss. Sophie Stocks

Year 1 teacher

Year 1 Teacher

Hello, my name is Sophie Stocks and I have been teaching at the British College of Brazil for a year now. As a child, I lived internationally in countries like France and The Netherlands where I attended international schools. We returned back to the United Kingdom during my teenage years however since I qualified as a teacher, I longed to be living internationally again. So here I am in Brasil!

It has been a wonderful, enriching experience and I have fallen in love with the vibrant culture. Whilst it has been a privilege to travel the varied landscapes of Brasil, this special country definitely has my heart.

Professionally speaking, I am a passionate, hard working and dedicated teacher. I have had experience in Year 1 for the last 3 years and I strongly feel that it is such an important year to get right and lay the foundations for the children’s primary schooling. Placing wellbeing and relationships at the heart of my teaching, I love to see the huge amount of progress the children make socially, emotionally and academically. My passions are early reading and teaching phonics which is something I like to promote through all subjects. I have recently been appointed as the PSHE coordinator so I am looking forward to this new challenge and working on some new and exciting projects.

During my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, yoga and exploring new places. Particularly lazing by a pool or on the beach somewhere in Brasil. I am looking forward to another year with the BCB family and working in a school that has an excellent reputation across Sao Paulo.
