My experiences during my own education have had a massive impact on my desire to want to be a teacher. My teachers, particularly during Secondary school, had a huge influence on me as a person and have helped shape my perspective on life and what is achievable. The respect I have for the teachers who helped me throughout my school time is insurmountable. This has shaped my desire to teach young people and improve their outlook on life, by being the best role model I can be. I want to teach them not only important subject knowledge, but the skills to equip them for the future.
As my decision of being a teacher has been made, I had my Bachelor's Degree in Language and Literature and Bachelor's Degree in Education by University of São Paulo, followed by a post-graduation in Psychopedagogy. As a language teacher, I strive to develop lifelong learners through engaging and thought provoking lessons, helping the students to develop their ability in using Portuguese effectively for practical communication, study, work and leisure; as well as encouraging positive attitudes to the learning of languages and cultures. I am very pleased to say that during my career, all my students were able to speak with confidence, acquiring a large vocabulary that benefits them either school or socially and finally, think beyond and understand the real usage of the language. I consider myself a dedicated teacher, always looking forward to learn new strategies and show them the language as it is, in real routine and not just in the books universe.
During my teaching experience here, I have been working hard to demonstrate in a simple way that Portuguese is delightful and I had the bliss to see these young peoples’ enthusiasm and curiosity increased, promoting a more enjoyable teaching and learning environment. The challenge of teaching a language for both Brazilian and foreigners in an International school excites me and motivates me to remain at the forefront of the education system. It is this focus and drive that preserves my thirst for my continued success, both personally and professionally, giving me much to offer the teaching profession.
I believe that I teach Portuguese in an engaging and dynamic style, coupled with my breadth of language knowledge and ever developing understanding of successful teaching practice makes my pupils enjoy my lessons, along with student data highlighting the continued progress they make. I am confident that my enthusiasm and commitment along with my professionalism and teaching style it is beneficial to the students, staff and governors at BCB. I am also very engaged to school environment, supporting them with their events, residential trips, parties and the production of some shows.
Outside of school life, I love spending my time with my friends, family, my dog and my boyfriend. Between things I love to do, I could say I love dancing, cooking, photographing, shopping, traveling and experiencing new cultures. In the free time I have, I am planning my lessons, searching for new things to do, studying, going to the gym or sleeping!
