I grew up in a bilingual setting, where I spoke Portuguese at home and English at school. I started my teaching career at BCB as a teaching assistant and by getting the Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate. The course ignited in me the desire to teach English to young learners. After getting my bachelor's degree in Education, I challenged myself further by getting a CELTA qualification. I am always studying to be up to date with the newest and latest educational theories. Lately, I have been studying about Special Educational Needs and the Importance of Bilingualism.
When I became an EAL teacher at BCB, I had the chance to put all my theoretical learning into practice and it has been an exciting journey. Watching students arrive with no English language experience, learning and improving, and then chatting away and telling me stories sometime later all in English, is definitely rewarding.
In my free time, I like spending time with friends and family as much as I can. As a passionate and patriotic Brazilian, I love samba, feijoada, coxinhas, brigadeiros and, of course, the beach. I also enjoy trying new sports, traveling, listening to music, and watching movies.
