I studied Psychology at undergraduate and after graduating I accepted the position as an English as a second language teacher working within the Korean public school system. It was during this time that my love of languages flourished and so I decided to get my MA in TESOL/FL from Birmingham University. I greatly enjoyed studying how languages are acquired as well as taught and learnt. My dissertation was on the interpretation of gestures within different cultures and how to use this in a language classroom.
After completing my MA, I worked for several years at a Korean medical University, where I became the leader of the Academic English course. I gained a lot of valuable experience during this time, but when the opportunity to live and teach in Sao Paulo arose, I couldn’t turn it down.
Outside of school, I spend my time sampling the culinary delights of Brazil, visiting the fantastic beaches and spending time with my family.
What students say:
“Mr. Pixsley has helped me to improve my English.”
“I like EAL classes as I can speak easier than in my other classes.”
“EAL classes are helping me make friends and learn a new language.”
