This week in the Primary School – Ms Rosy Clark – 30/10/2015

Welcome back!

I hope you enjoyed the break from school routines at the British Vietnamese International School and some special family time last week. I visited Japan for the first time and also took the opportunity to call in at Mr Michael Deveney’s school in Tokyo. Mr Deveney was the founding Principal of BVIS and, after 10 years in Vietnam, he moved to Tokyo in August 2014 to take up a new position there. I am happy to report that he is well, happy and enjoying his new role.

During the school holidays we made a couple of changes to the school building including a beautiful new mural in the Soft Playroom of the Gruffalo.

As a British school, we try to promote the best of British education. One of Britain’s leading children’s authors is Julia Donaldson MBE. She was in fact selected to be the “Children’s Laureate” from 2011 to 2013. Her award winning picture book “The Gruffalo” was first published in 1999 but has since been translated into over 50 languages and the Gruffalo stories have been made into highly successful films. If you are not familiar with the Gruffalo, you may like to browse the website dedicated to this character and share some of the activities with your child www.gruffalo.com

Scenes from “The Gruffalo” have been painted on the BVIS Soft Playroom wall and I am happy to report that the children absolutely love the pictures. Do take a walk down the Early Years corridor on the ground floor and have a look for yourself!
