  • How long does the admissions process take?
The BVIS HCMC admissions process typically takes around two weeks from enquiry to enrolment.
  • Can my child join BVIS HCMC at any point in the year?
Yes, absolutely. BVIS HCMC welcomes children all year round, and we provide every student with a personalised learning programme. This is designed to guide them through their time at the school. We also offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Vietnamese as an Additional Language (VAL) support for students who need it.
  • My child is currently studying at a Vietnamese school and doesn't speak any English. Will they be accepted?
Their placement depends on your child's age, test results, and school reports. We expect older children to have higher levels of English because of the curriculum we follow. Our excellent EAL support team will help your child if they experience initial difficulties. We want every student to thrive and succeed, no matter their background or experience.
  • What do your tuition fees include?

    Our tuition fees include:

    • All academic teaching and learning.
    • Access to all learning materials and resources.
    • Most extra-curricular clubs.
    • Lunch.
    • Compulsory health insurance.
    • International exams.
    • EAL/VAL tuition (if required).

    Additional charges may include:

    • Individual music lessons.
    • Paid extra-curricular activities.
    • Voluntary trips.
    • School bus service.
    • Expedition and excursions.
  • What is the purpose of the security deposit?

Our admissions process begins in October, when we start recruiting the best international teachers for the following academic year.

An early financial investment is made in our teaching staff, so in return we need a commitment from families. Your deposit will offset any outlay made during the recruitment process in the event that you withdraw your child’s application at short notice. The use of a deposit is a standard practice at premium international schools across the world.

  • Does the school follow a British or Vietnamese curriculum?

At BVIS HCMC, our students predominantly follow the National Curriculum for England. Some subjects, however, are taught in Vietnamese to ensure learners enjoy the best of both countries’ academic curricula.

Our students graduate with renowned IGCSE and A Level qualifications, accredited by the University of Cambridge Examinations Board and accepted by leading universities worldwide. We have a unique approach that allows us to teach an international curriculum in a fully bilingual environment. This is one of a kind in Vietnam.

  • What qualifications do your teachers have?

BVIS HCMC recruits outstanding teachers from around the world, who all have internationally recognised qualifications. Most of our teachers are either from the UK or have experience in British-style international schools, and receive subject-specific training from leading institutions like MIT, The Juilliard School and UNICEF.

Just like our students, our teachers never stop learning. We support their professional growth, providing opportunities that range from online courses to a fully-funded Master’s in International Education with King’s College London. We also offer leadership pathways that nurture growth.

  • Is maths taught in the English language?
In Primary, maths is taught in Vietnamese. This gives students a strong foundational understanding of the subject. In Secondary, learners gradually shift towards the English language, in preparation for external exams.
  • How do you preserve Vietnamese culture and values?
We celebrate bilingualism in school, and focus on Vietnamese heritage and culture both through and beyond the curriculum. Most of our teaching assistants are Vietnamese. They are highly proficient in English and help students with their Vietnamese studies. We regularly celebrate key traditional Vietnamese events, too, such as Tet and Moon Festival.

We’re a close-knit community that values family. We organise numerous activities with this in mind, including Grandparents' Day, parent seminars, and coffee mornings. Our students go on day and residential trips abroad and within Vietnam, learning about the country and experiencing traditional Vietnamese life. They see first-hand what it means to respect their elders and practice good manners.
  • Do you offer additional learning support?
We offer learning support for children with mild educational needs. We also have an experienced English as an Additional Language (EAL) team, who will help your child with their English language acquisition.
  • What extra-curricular activities do you offer?

BVIS HCMC offers a broad after-school activity programme. More than 100 clubs are available to students, ranging from traditional activities like swimming and poetry to more unusual clubs, such as fishing.

We always listen to students and families and so, if there’s sufficient interest for a new activity, we will endeavour to create a club to meet it.

  • What qualifications do your students achieve?
We offer University of Cambridge IGCSE (14-16 years old) and A Level (16-18 years old) qualifications. Our students' academic results are consistently outstanding.
  • Are IGCSE and A Level qualifications recognised worldwide?
Yes. University of Cambridge exams are taken in more than 100 countries and accepted as entry requirements by every top university.
  • How is the school day timetabled? And is English integrated throughout the day?
Our English and Vietnamese curricula are integrated. The level of English increases as students enter Secondary (reaching 95% English in Key Stage 5) to prepare for exams.; however, our younger students are exposed to equal levels of English and Vietnamese.
