BVIS & BIS Cross-Campus Student Council

11 December 2015

BVIS & BIS Cross-Campus

On Monday of this week, the Student Council representatives from all three Ho Chi Minh City campuses met at BVIS.

The purpose of the meeting was for the children to build relationships with their peers at the other campuses and have the opportunity to discuss their work and the challenges they face.

Our representatives, who are from Year One through to Year Six, were excited to welcome our visitors to the campus. To start the day off, we did a mingling activity to mix the children up and to encourage them to talk to as many other children as possible. This was followed by a team game, in which they had to demonstrate their critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills to succeed.

The children then gave a short presentation about their school and the projects they have been working on. They were able to ask for ideas and suggestions to help them with problematic areas, such as lunches and playground equipment.

I am pleased to report that our representatives from Year Six took to the floor very well indeed to explain the challenges with our snack time and our mission to create healthy, tasty snacks. Also they talked about the outdoor stage area which is being developed slowly (we will post more information on both of these projects when we come back to school in term 2). Both Peter and Kevin (Year Six) were confident and articulated their thoughts and ideas very well.

Our Student Council listened carefully to the other presentations and were quick to think about ways we can use the ideas from the other campuses here at BVIS to make our school even better. Keep an eye open for some of these ideas after the holiday!

On a final note, we have 18 Student Council representatives in the Primary School and I am very proud to report that they all work enthusiastically for the benefit of the school and their peers. So far this year they have worked diligently to raise the profile of the Student Council and the work they do. The children have made it a role which is both admired and respected amongst the student population. Congratulations!
