Many BVIS parents came to the Phonics Coffee Mornings last year. Due to their popularity and the feedback we received, this year we will be holding two Phonics and Early Reading Coffee Mornings.
From the feedback you gave us, I know that many of you support your child’s reading at home but are sometimes unsure if you are ‘saying the sounds correctly’. Therefore, the first of these Coffee Mornings will be a repeat of last year’s ‘Super Sounds Coffee Morning’ and will focus on the English phonic sounds your child will learn at BVIS.
Following the research BVIS has been conducting with Professor Ly Kha of the University of Pedagogy, we will also demonstrate at this Coffee Morning how to help your child with their Vietnamese phonic sounds using the same system.
This Coffee Morning is aimed at:
· parents of Year 1 children
· parents of children in Years 2-6 who are new to English and are starting to learn their English sounds
· any parent who wants to review or clarify how to say English sounds ‘correctly’ in order to better support your child at home
Parents who attended last year are most welcome to attend again and be our ‘resident experts’. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to clarify any sounds that you are still unsure of.
The Coffee Morning will take place onThursday 17th September at 08.30 in the Main Hall. There will be refreshments available, so please come down as soon as you have dropped your child off and join us for a cup of coffee. Please note that this is an adult only event.
I very much look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 17th September.
