A Postcard from Vietnam: Mr Will McConnell & Ms Emma Batten

Name: Will McConnell

Subject: Biology

Form class: 11V

City: Canon City, Colorado, USA

My first impressions of Vietnam: Nice, friendly people, delicious food and especially very cheap, literally everything.

Three appealing differences between Vietnamese and Americans to me: Vietnamese are smaller, shorter, friendlier and eat more healthily

What will I do? See places in Vietnam such as Ha Noi and Hoi An, visit beautiful beaches and explore more of Asia such as Hong Kong and Tokyo.

I had an amazing time exploring the bustling, colourful of Saigon (A different cool name I just learned from my students) with Mr. Tohill on the Vietnam Independence Celebration.

Plans in Vietnam: to see, to meet, to learn and to enjoy this wonderful country as much as I can.

Vietnam in 5 words: rainy, sunny, “crowned” (the helmets), friendly, delicious

Why Vietnam? I heard that BVIS is an excellent school (and to get away from Saudi Arabia)

Name: Emma Batten

Subject: all the year 1 subjects

Form class: 1

City: Cornwall, England

My first impressions of Vietnam: busy, people everywhere, lots of motorbikes, beautiful, kind, such friendly and happy people,

Three differences between Vietnamese and English to me: Vietnamese are happier, friendlier, good and cheap services in restaurants.

I want to: to explore every corner of HCMC, travel around Vietnam and visit other countries. This is the first country in Asia I have ever been to, very big move and exciting adventures are awaiting for me.

Plans in Vietnam: working in this fantastic school, getting to know the students and parents from different cultures; travelling and seeing lots of places like Hoi An, Da Nang and Thailand. Quite a beach person: try out water sports.

In 5 words, I would describe Vietnam as: busy, friendly, cheap, amazing food, beautiful
