Julie Tran, a BVIS Class of 2025 alumna, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business (majoring in Finance) at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Bloomington. Her programme is ranked #9 among undergraduate business programmes in the United States (2026), according to U.S News & World Report.

Julie studied Mathematics, Biology, Economics and Computer Science at A Level, an academically rigorous subject combination demanding both breadth and depth, where she achieved outstanding results of 4 A/A*.
This experience equipped her with strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, providing a solid foundation for the academic demands of university-level study.

As a result of her strong A Level results and their alignment with her chosen major, Julie was able to transfer 32 university credits, equivalent to approximately one quarter of her bachelor’s degree, saving an estimated $45,000 USD in tuition fees.
These credits allowed her to fulfil nearly all General Education requirements and gain exemption from the World Languages and Cultures requirement. This early advantage has significantly shaped her university journey.
Julie’s credit transfer has transformed her university experience. With most general education requirements already completed, she is able to focus on her major and areas of interest without the pressure of an overloaded schedule. This flexibility also gives her more time to participate in clubs and extracurricular activities, work on personal and academic projects, engage in volunteering, and build early connections with upper-year students.
At the same time, it opens up greater academic opportunities, allowing her to consider a dual major or additional minors, explore interdisciplinary fields such as Biotechnology and Quantitative Economics and design a more personalised and future-focused academic pathway.

Reflecting on her journey, Julie attributes much of her success in current studyto the support she received at BVIS HCMC:
"Looking back, the support from my teachers at BVIS was everything. They didn’t just teach us the material; they were right there with us through all the essay practices and past papers, making sure we actually understood the concepts rather than just memorizing them for a test.
That approach made a massive difference. It didn’t just help me get the grades I needed to transfer 32 credits to college, it actually gave me the knowledge and study habits that I still use in my university classes today. I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing teaching and support at BVIS!"

Julie Tran’s journey demonstrates how A Levels can provide both academic readiness and a strategic advantage at university. By earning transferable credits and developing strong analytical skills, she began her degree ahead of her peers, gaining the flexibility to explore, grow and maximise every opportunity from day one.
