Extra-curricular Clubs (update)

29 January 2016

This week saw the start of our Term Two clubs. To integrate further with the ‘Nord Anglia Global Campus’ community we have launched three new exciting clubs in the Primary School.

Global Library:

The ‘Global Library’ is a worldwide book club. Being part of a book club challenges the children to read, reflect, critique and express their conclusions clearly. There are many online quizzes and discussion forums on the ‘Global Campus’ website in which the children can share their thoughts. Our children will also have the opportunity to enter into discussions with other students within the Nord Anglia family about their book. Thank you to Ms Lan & Ms Phuc for running the activity and Ms Truc, who has carefully selected the numerous titles for the children to choose from. The book the children choose will be in addition to their usual library allocation of two books.

Global Cinema:

The ‘Global Cinema’ is another opportunity for our children to interact with fellow students around the world. After watching a pre-selected movie they are able to share their thoughts online in the many forums. Whilst in the forum, they will have the chance to read and respond to other students contributions; opening up a lively online debate. As part of the ‘Global Cinema’ Ms Amy is also looking to develop the creativity of the children by having them replicate a scene from a movie; providing them with an inspirational way to express themselves using drama and ICT skills.

The Big Draw:

‘The Big Draw’ aims to get everyone drawing; even those that think they can’t. Encouraging children to draw allows them to slow down and appreciate how the visual world works. By developing this skill the children will gain a deeper understanding of their surroundings. Mr Dan will inspire the children to be creative and ambitious in their work. The Big Draw charity works with many educational organisations to promote “visual literacy” and to demonstrate the social, economic and health benefits that the universal language of drawing can bring.
