This week in the Primary School

Young Musician of the Year

This term BVIS are joining our sister school, BIS, in the “Young Musician of the Year” competition. This is a great opportunity for our young musicians to share their instrumental skills, perform to an audience and challenge themselves against their peers.

This week, children in Years 3 – 6 signed up in school to audition for a place in the semi-final and auditions took place at lunchtimes in the music room with Mr Fergus and a group of other teachers.

The children who auditioned were very respectful and supportive of their peers during the auditions and we heard a lovely variety of music played on a range of instruments including the recorder, guitar, piano and violin.

The semi-final will take place next week on Thursday 13th October in the Main Hall at 15:15 with Mr Paul Murphy from The Juilliard School in New York. Parents are very welcome to attend the semi-final which will last about 30 minutes.

The finals will be held on Thursday 27th October at BIS in District 2 competing against other young musicians from the BIS Primary campuses.
