Mr Paul Holyome Weekly Update 11/03/2016

11 March 2016

Dear parents

Firstly, may I take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along to VIVO City last Saturday to support the school and thank you to those of you who were daring enough to dress in a penguin suit. There were hundreds of visitors, it was a lot of fun and it attracted much interest from current and prospective parents. Please visit the following link to see the pictures:

Mr Paul Holyome Weekly Update 11/03/2016

Whilst you are reading this article, Ms Lan our amazing Vietnamese teacher has already set off for her long journey to the Antarctica flying via Argentina. Ms Lan had a wonderful send off at the airport last night with many people there to wish her well on her journey. The penguin bike riders weaved their way through the city to promote her departure and there was a wonderful rendition of the ‘Penguin Stew’ written by our music teacher Mr Fergus and performed by our Year 4 students at the airport departure gate. A wonderful way to say goodbye and we wish her well for her expedition. I am both delighted and proud that our school is taking the lead on such an important environmental issue and delighted that this project also opens up opportunities for ambitious leaders across the whole school. We will keep you updated on the progress of Ms Lan as and when we get news.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the above event as I am currently in South Korea meeting with over 50 Principals and Headteachers at the annual FOBISIA business conference. This is a great opportunity for our great schools to get together and discuss further opportunities for events, activities and shared good practice for the benefit of all our children. It is a privilege to represent our community at such a prestigious event and I am sure there will be some great things that I will be able to bring back to school following the conference.

Finally, as we approach the important examination season, I know you will join me in wishing our Year 11,12 and 13 students the very best of luck in their preparation for their examinations. On Thursday 17th March at 6pm we will be hosting a Parent Seminar specifically focused on how to support your child in preparing for their studies. I hope many of you will be able to join us for this event.
