This week in the Primary School – Ms. Rosy Clark 18/03/2016

Coffee Mornings

Our final EYFS coffee morning for the 2015-16 academic year took place this week. The topic was ‘Early Maths’ and it was lovely to welcome parents of our youngest children into school to learn more about this area of the curriculum and how it is taught at the British Vietnamese International School.

Thank you very much to Ms Catherine and Ms Linh for organising and delivering such an interesting event.

BVIS Key Stage 2 Poetry and Speech Competition

On Thursday evening at our annual Primary Poetry and Speech Competition, Year 3 and Year 4 children performed poetry whilst Year 5 and Year 6 children delivered speeches they had written. The children had earned their places as finalists during the preceding few weeks and were all very proud of themselves, if somewhat nervous!

Presenting in public is a skill that is increasingly expected in the 21st century work place and so we start preparing BVIS students early through the many performance opportunities available in school and through our membership of international school organisations which allows our students to meet, collaborate or compete with children from other international schools, both in Ho Chi Minh City and Asia.

FOBISIA Primary Performing Arts Carnival

This week, I have accompanied Mr Fergus, our Primary Music teacher, and 6 of our Year 5 and 6 children to the FOBISIA Primary Performing Arts Carnival, held this year in Ho Chi Minh City. What a fabulous opportunity this has been for our children to mix with children from other leading British schools from countries all over Asia.

Our students have been able to socialise with children from other countries, participate in focussed workshops and rehearse music to a high standard leading to a Gala Concert on Sunday afternoon.
