One More Day: A Phenomenal Secondary Production

06 May 2016

On Wednesday 27

April, BVIS Secondary students performed a magnificent production entitled, ‘One More Day’. This phenomenal production was directed by Mr Williams, the Secondary music teacher, featuring students from year 7 to year 13. It was an adaptation of the long-running show ‘Les Miserables’, itself based on Victor Hugo’s epic tale romance and revolution in 19

century France. It was heart-soaring, crowd-delighting and inspiring.

In my opinion, the acting was definitely believable. Fantine (Ou Tuong Vy [Sam]) was one of the hardest roles to act, yet she totally nailed both the singing and acting. In the scene when Fantine mourns for her lost love, I asked myself “Is she

crying?” It was so emotionally touching and passionate that some teachers had tears in their eyes! Nguyen Tieu Minh Khue (Stella) did an outstanding job as Eponine of being the third in the ‘Love triangle’ between herself, Marius and Cosette.Even better was when the students fought behind the ‘barricades of freedom’.

Now on to the topic of Props. The props and costumes were Impressively made by Ms Amber Clayton and her wonderful team of helpers. It really helped the principle charaters with their acting, and the setting seemed realistic.

In conclusion, the production was definitely the best one yet! It was highly enjoyable and the cast did an amazing job. I could tell that everyone did their very best. I am now really looking forward to the next years production!
