This week in the Primary School – Ms. Rosy Clark 06/05/2016

Eco Week

The Primary School was a splash of green on Friday as we celebrated the final day of our week dedicated to learning about our precious planet Earth. Children, teachers, TAs, catering staff, cleaners, office staff and even some of our parents were dressed in green!

It has been an excellent week of learning with the theme of “Life on Land”. Different parts of the school explored different topics:

Early Years:

the importance of trees

Years 1, 2 and 3:

Year 4:

endangered animals

Year 5:

Year 6:

energy and eco-homes

The week began with a wonderful session when Secondary students visited our Early Years and Primary classrooms to deliver an activity they had planned themselves. Over the last few weeks they have worked with our Primary School teachers and their form tutors to plan an activity related to one of the Global Goals. The power of “peer learning” could be seen in the high level of engagement by our Early Years and Primary children who loved learning with the Secondary students.

This week all year groups benefitted from a lesson with Ms Lan, our Eco-Ambassador as she shared some of her experiences from her recent expedition to Antarctica.
