After a nice long break, a big welcome back to all of our BVIS community, and an especially warm welcome to all our new students and their families. I spent a lovely summer visiting relatives back in England, but also taking the opportunity to travel by motorbike around some of Vietnam, taking in the gorgeous countryside – as well as risking my life on some of the highways! I was reminded once again of how lucky my family and I are to live in this beautiful and fascinating country.
I returned to the wonderful news of our best ever examination results. I know you all received a letter from me last week outlining the headline figures, and will join me in congratulating our young people on their amazing achievements. This coming year we intend to do even better!
We’ve come back to an ever-expanding school, with a new sixth form area and coffee shop on the second floor and expanded areas for both music and art. We are offering IGCSE history and A level PE for the first time, and our biggest ever sixth form cohort. It’s a great time to be at BVIS!
A few reminders, please, as we start the new year:
- the uniform is explained clearly in the parent handbook and student planners. Black, leather shoes are required, not plimsolls or trainers;
- students should be collected from school no later than 3.15pm, or 4.30pm after clubs (unless otherwise arranged due to sporting fixtures, events etc.)
- sign up for clubs will begin next Thursday, with clubs starting 12 September. All students should sign up for at least one extra-curricular activity.
I look forward to seeing you all throughout what will no doubt be another exciting and successful year. Have a lovely weekend.
