Author visit

This week we had a visiting author in school from the UK. Ciaran Murtagh is an award winning author and script writer. If your family watches “Shaun the Sheep” or “Mr Bean” or “The Amazing World of Gumball” on TV, then there is a good chance that you have seen some of Ciaran’s work.

To learn more about Ciaran, please follow the link to his website:

Key Stage 2 children all had the chance to meet Ciaran at BVIS either after school when he was signing his books in the Primary foyer or during his writing workshops for all Year 4, 5 and 6 classes.

Year 3 also enjoyed watching his performance in the Main Hall on Wednesday when Ciaran created a brand new story with the children’s help.

Here at BVIS we aim to develop a love of books and reading in

children and the opportunity to meet a real-life author at school is a great source of inspiration for children. Learning how real authors write will hopefully encourage the children with their own writing as well as inspire them to read.
