Four of our year 13 students travelled to Malaysia last weekend for the FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference, together with peers from BIS and ABC schools. They had a great time and really developed those leadership skills that will prove so vital in applying for university this year.
FOBISIA Leadership Conference
After the success of our first US Universities Week, next week we focus on universities from the UK. A fair will take place on Monday after school, and you are more than welcome to join your children in coming along to speak to representatives from around 20 institutions about what they offer and their requirements.
I spoke to key stage 4 last week and key stage 3 this week in assembly about their aspirations and dreams, and truly believing in themselves and their abilities. With application, drive and determination, there is no limit to what we can achieve. We want our students to set the bar high and go for it, whatever the obstacles. Talking to the American universities last week, it was interesting again to note that A levels are really highly regarded by them, and they even give credits for good grades meaning that some modules will not need to be studied. For you as parents, this means lower fees! For our students, this is a great incentive to really push themselves and gain the highest grades possible.
Finally, thank you to all of you who turned up and supported the BBGV Fun Run on a scorching hot morning on Sunday. It was great to see new and familiar faces alike supporting such a good cause, as well as representing the school. A special congratulations to our own Ms May who won the women’s race, and Mr Waddingham who was an incredible 4th in the men’s competition!
Have a wonderful weekend.
