Mr. Paul Holyome Weekly Update - 10/11/2017

10 November 2017

Dear parents

I have two fantastic pieces of news to share with you this week.

Every year the Times Education Supplement based in the UK carries out a search to find the best Independent schools and to recognise any outstanding work being carried out in these schools. It gives me enormous pleasure to announce that our school has been shortlisted for the TES Independent School Award Ceremony to be held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London in February. This is an extremely prestigious event and it is an enormous honour to have our school shortlisted and be amongst a small group of outstanding independent schools. BVIS has been shortlisted for the community initiative of the year. Our ‘Have a Heart’ campaign that we led last year has been recognised as an outstanding project that has had a significant impact on the school and the community. You will see from the list that we have been shortlisted against some of the most prestigious schools. You can read more about the awards event here.

Each year, CIE announce the winners of their Outstanding Learner Awards that include top students in Vietnam, the best student across many subjects and high achievement students. I am extremely proud and pleased to congratulate the following students for achieving ‘Outstanding Learner Awards’ this year.

Top in Vietnam refers to the learner who has gained the highest standard mark in for a single subject or the learner who has gained the highest standard across all their subjects and hence the best student for their studies. The BVIS HCMC CIE awards are:

Top in Vietnam

Cambridge International AS Level – Physics – Lam Tien Long – BVIS

First Place Student

Best Student Across Three Cambridge International A Levels – Tran Phuong Uyen – BVIS

High Achievement

Cambridge International A Level – Geography – Ngo Thanh Lam  - BVIS

Cambridge International A Level – Physics – Tran Phuong Uyen – BVIS

Cambridge International AS Level – Computer Science – Lam Tien Long – BVIS

Cambridge International AS Level – Geography – Nguyen Tan Bao – BVIS

We are extremely proud of these students and it further demonstrates how good the quality of our students and the teaching is here at BVIS. We are of course delighted that one of our International A Level students achieved top in Vietnam for her complete A Level studies examinations.

I hope you all have a very relaxing weekend.

Paul Holyome
