Secondary Update – Mr Simon Graves – 19/05/2017

19 May 2017

  • 540 x 329 (7)

This Saturday sees the culmination of up to 13 years of formal education for 25 of our students as the Year 13s graduate. It will be an emotional event, as well as a celebratory one. Every one of these students, whether they have been at BVIS from the very beginning or since Year 10, has contributed so much to the life of the school. Likewise, the school will have become central to their own lives. Each of them will now follow their own paths to university and beyond, creating new memories, and the school will be a different place without them. We wish them all the luck in the world and I know that each and every one of them will go on to great things.

Creating great memories this week were some of our Key Stage 3 sporting stars. Our badminton squad, ably coached by Ms Nguyen, performed as superbly as ever, and you can read about their achievements here.

The boys’ and girls’ Under 14s volleyball teams also had their city championships, and you’ll be able to read all about their successes next week.

And last weekend, a number of Key Stage 3 students took part in the maths city championships, with the year 8 team doing particularly well and finishing 4th overall! Well done to all our competitors. You can read about the competition here

With the IGCSEs, AS and A levels well under way, our key stage 3 and year 10 students will shortly be undertaking their own end of year assessments. As such, much of the homework over the coming weeks will be based around revision tasks. Please ensure your child balances their revision time and gets plenty of rest as well, rather than ‘cramming’ for tests and staying up late. Please note as well that these tests let us know the progress that your child has made – they cannot fail them and will not be held back a year.

If you have any questions about the exams, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of your child’s teachers here at school.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Chúc Quý phụ huynh cuối tuần vui vẻ.
