This week in the Primary School
Key Stage 2 Poetry and Speech Competition 2018
Last week, we focused upon the importance of reading during our World Book Day celebrations. We hope that our BVIS grandparents enjoyed being a part of this on Friday when they attended our special assembly, watching staff and children colourfully dressed as book characters and enjoying our book related performances.
This week, another key language skill came under the spotlight – speaking. Our annual Key Stage 2 Poetry and Speech Competition was held on Thursday evening in the theatre. Preparations for this event started several weeks ago when the theme was chosen to fit in with this year’s “Global Challenge” set by Nord Anglia Education.
The 2017-2018 Nord Anglia Education global challenge focuses upon global goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and global goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”, hence the theme for this year’s poetry and speech competition was “Sustainable Cities and Recycling”.
Congratulations to all the children who prepared their poetry recitals and speeches and competed to reach the final. The standard was high which gave the judges a very difficult task to select the overall winners:
Minh Nhat 3V
Bao Nam 4B
Hai Dang 5B
Kha Vy 6B
Thank you to the Secondary students who gave presentations as part of the event and to Mr Phil and the rest of the Language Support department for organising the evening.
