Secondary Update – Mr Jack Rudin – 04/05/2018

04 May 2018

Dear Parents,

I hope that your Children had a great time over the spring break and you had a chance to spend some time with your family. It is great to see all the students back at school. IGCSE and A level examination started this week and students will be working hard on these over the next two months.

Some of our students this year have been working on our global challenge and helping to protect our environment in Vietnam. They have set themselves and some ambitious targets one of which is to reduce and eventually eliminate our use of single use plastics in the school.

This week we’ve been raising awareness of various environmental issues through our annual Eco Week. On Wednesday we turned off the lights and made use of the natural light from windows. On Thursday we reduced the amount of paper being used in school, instead focussing on the use of our bring-your-own-device scheme in lessons. Today we’re holding a whole school mufti day to raise money to purchase reusable cups and straws. This will then have a lasting impact by completely removing single use plastic from the sunken garden.

It is not often that we can show the work that students have been doing to you through the hub but this week some of our students have been making movies in History lessons of women who have changed the world. One example of of this work by Ashley Nguyen is the movie she made about Katherine Johnson you can see her great video at this link here.

I hope you have a great weekend with your families.
