House Prefect Structure (per House)
Our Head Students represent BVIS at events, such as parents evenings, options evenings and open days. They are exceptional role models for the students in their House and represent the student voice, creating a link between teachers and students. Our Head Students also lead their fellow prefects in their duties and assist their Head of House in leading House Assemblies, as well as taking part in Whole-School Assemblies.
Our House Captains lead and support the students in their House in a variety of House Competitions. They work closely with their Head of House, providing ideas and support for competitions and house related activities. The House Captain organises teams with the support of the Junior House Captains. They also support and model positive behaviour at all House Competitions and around the school.
Our Student Mentors provide guidance, motivation and emotional support to the junior students in their house. They meet weekly with students to encourage, listen and make suggestions. Student Mentors also work closely with their Head of House, Tutors and Student Council to offer support with activities during registration.
Our Media Managers work closely with the marketing team at BVIS and make contributions to the yearbook, weekly highlights and social media posts. Our Media Managers attend all House events so they can capture special memories and write reports for each event to be shared with the house and the wider school community.
Beside, Heads of House have a very important role in the school as they are working closely with the House Student Leadership Teams, guiding them through the organisation of events and working together to make the houses feel more like a school family for students.
Benefits of becoming a House Prefect
Becoming a House Prefect can make this difference, as it provides students with the platform to show their commitment and enthusiasm to making a difference. House Prefects are able to develop their leadership, communication and teamwork skills that universities want to see evidenced in addition to academic achievements.
