Oak Organisation was launched in 2017 by BVIS Year 11 - 13 students to spread the importance of performing arts, public speaking, and other soft skills to communities inside and outside the school.
For the past four years, the project has collaborated with Ba Muoi's Shelter to provide academic classes and day tours to help build soft skills free of charge for the underprivileged children. In addition, the project presents an annual performance with the children from Ba Muoi’s Shelter as actors.
Some significant achievements of OAK organisation so far include:
- The musical performance Co Dai (Wide Grass) took place successfully in 2019 with the aim of fundraising.
- Raising a fund of 22 million VND for Ba Muoi Shelter with a contribution to building a new library in 2018
- Continuously collecting clothes, books and notebooks for unfortunate children
In the latest Oak project in 2020, all project members spent a memorable summer with their students through learning and participating in various fun activities through the theme "self-exploration". In just a few weeks, the children discovered a broad range of fascinating topics such as information technology, economics, art, media, and psychology to explore their career preferences.
Our dedicated volunteers conveyed new concepts through active engagement in simple games that made each class always full of laughter and energy. Despite being forced to switch to online learning due to the currently complicated COVID-19 pandemic situation, the determination of both Oak Organisation members and the children made the success of the 2020 Summer program.
To smoothly run a wide range of activities, it takes professional operations behind the scenes at Oak Organisation. There are specialised departments within this project that are formed and managed by BVIS students themselves: the Board of Directors oversee planning and monitor activities, contacting and cooperating with sponsors and the Teaching and Curriculum team to prepare lesson plans and directly teach the children. In addition, the Media & Design team takes care of promotional content on the project’s Facebook page and website.
