IGCSE Exam Preparation
In years 10 and 11 at BVIS, students take courses leading to IGCSE examinations in May and June of year 11. The syllabus for these examinations, and the examinations themselves, are set and marked by a UK based examinations board, Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Cambridge IGCSEs are the most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds in the world. They are taken by students in over 145 countries and in more than 6,100 schools globally.
At BVIS all students take IGCSE maths, English and the co-ordinated science double award which means they get two IGCSEs in science. In addition to these subjects, students take up to three more IGCSEs chosen from Art, Business Studies, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, Geography, History, Music and Physical Education.
IGCSEs are important as they form the foundation of university admission. Good universities expect grade C or above passes in at least 5 IGCSE subjects including Maths and English.
IGCSEs exems also form the foundation for moving on into Key stage 5 and the BVIS A-Level programs.
