This term, every student from Years One to Six has been given the opportunity to ice skate during their Physical Education lessons, and it has been fantastic to see so many students taking up the challenge and stepping onto the ice.
Our topic theme for ice skating across all year groups this term has been "independence" as we have encouraged students to not only be independent in preparing themselves for lessons by bringing and putting on their own skates, but also to be independent in their ice skating by taking the leap, trusting themselves and trying new things
Students have been taking part in challenges and games to build confidence and improve their ability to skate during our lessons. With so many different ability levels across the year groups, It has been brilliant to see students supporting each other, socializing and enjoying the winter weather.
For the first time across all ISM campuses, we were able to offer Year One the opportunity to ice skate during their Golden time. Following the success of these lessons and the maturity and enthusiasm of the Year One student, the PE Department is excited to announce ice skating as part of the Year One Physical Education curriculum for the next academic year.
As we move forward and the ice rink begins to melt, we are sad to finish our ice skating unit; however, we are looking forward to the spring and summer term of Physical Education and all the new sports we will start.
Well done to all our fabulous skaters!
