The IB MYP provides an interdisciplinary learning framework. This helps students become both creative and critical thinkers as they learn about a wide range of ideas and issues of local, national, and global significance. Students develop their skills in research, communication, and collaboration, and become more effective at self-directed learning. The MYP closes with an independent learning project over an extended period, which encourages students to reflect on everything they’ve learned over eight subject groups:
- Language Acquisition
- Language and Literature
- Individuals and Societies
- Arts (Art, Music, and Performing Arts)
- Physical and Health Education
The IGCSE is an exam-based programme in which students take seven compulsory courses (English Language, English Literature, French, Mathematics, and a choice of three out of four sciences) and three options. At LCIS, we teach the IGCSE alongside a key IB element as part of our unique blended curriculum: Theory of Knowledge (ToK). Outdoor Education, Service and Action, assemblies, and PSHE complete our holistic approach to Secondary education.
The IGCSE is one of the world’s most respected academic qualifications and gives students a tried and tested springboard for a successful future education, both in their IBDP and beyond.
