Message from Primary - 9th November

Dear Parents

With our Year 6 back from Project week, preparations are now in full swing for the Year 5 and 6 production of Bah Humbug! This is a performance of the classic Charles Dicken’s story, A Christmas Carol.  With our school growing in numbers, I felt it was important for us to continue our drive to give every child a quality opportunity to perform on stage and so we have split our Key Stage 2 in half. Year 5 and 6 will be onstage this term, with Year 3 and 4 entertaining us in the Summer term.

Also this term we have our Early Years children performing a Snowman at Sunset, a Christmas based play, in the final week of the term.  Parents will be sent a link to register to attend the performances closer to the time.  The children are learning their lines and the songs ready to be on stage in front of the parents and older students. As a parent, I cannot wait.
  • Bah Humbug! (Year 5 and 6 Production) - Tuesday 20th November (1:30pm) and Wednesday 21st November (6pm)
  • Snowman at Sunset (Early Years Production) - Tuesday 11th December (9:30am)

As we are looking forward, I would like to also give you advanced warning about our very popular Christmas dinner, which we will be holding on the final Thursday of term. This is an opportunity for parents to come in and eat a traditional Christmas dinner with their children to celebrate the festive season. This will be taking place at lunchtime on Thursday 13th December, so please save the date

As I have walked around the Primary school this week, I have seen year groups deep into their learning. Year 5 have been developing their understanding of scientific reactions by baking in our Maker Space, Year 1 have been busy creating animal superheroes and artwork for their Topic ‘The Earth, Our Home’ and Nursery have been learning through the roleplay of a Farmer’s market.

The weather is turning slightly colder, so I am pleased to see students wearing their winter uniform, including school jumpers and cardigans. Our students are looking smart and they are definitely working hard at this very busy time of year.

Have a good weekend.

Regards

Mr Scrymgeour
