TEDx Youth @ STAIS Bangkok
Yesterday afternoon, an audience of close to 200 people attended our first ever TEDx Youth @ STAIS Bangkok, with over four hours of fascinating talks from students, ex-students, teachers, parents and a number of guests, both from other schools and from the Bangkok community. Congratulations to all of those involved in organising this wonderful, and thought-provoking, event. I am already looking forward to next year...
If you were not able to attend, or could not buy a ticket, the video of the whole afternoon is available on YouTube.
High School Calendar/Year 9 Options Choices
We are now into the last four, very busy, weeks of this term, and I have included a calendar of the last four weeks below.
As you can see, this is a very busy week for Year 9 who, as well as having their Science Trip to Wat Chalerm Prakiat today, will have their Humanities and Science Days, and their Arts Assembly, this week, before their Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings and their Free Choice Options Deadline next week.
This week is the Year 7 and 8 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings, followed by the Year 9 and 10 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings next week and the Year 12 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings the following week, and I look forward to seeing many of you at these.
A Fantastic Week for Drama
It’s been a fantastic week for the Drama Department at St Andrews. On Tuesday we had the pleasure of welcoming Ian Johnston, a UK based performance artist, who delivered a series of stimulating workshops to the IGCSE Drama and IB Theatre Arts groups. This was followed by a performance of his show which featured at the Edinburgh Drama Festival this year. To say that the audience was intrigued and enthralled was an understatement. Ian really challenged the students to re-consider the actor/audience relationship by creating an immersive performance environment. This is definitely an experience our students will never forget, that has furthered their understanding of theatre.
On Thursday the Year 13 IB Theatre Arts group performed their final practical assessment of the course, a collaborative devised piece. It was a very proud moment for us all to witness the ideas and creativity of these students being brought to life through live theatre. Thank you to the audience whose contribution to the after show talk back will really assist this group in completing their coursework. Well done to Aandie, Germano, Kathryn, Ken, Stef, Sophie, Suhavani whose work was innovative, challenging and really reflected their commitment and enjoyment of the arts.
