Sport: Lap 2, term 1

Updates on football, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis and a reminder of upcoming events for High School, Primary School … and parents.

Primary School Sport

Welcome back! What a great start to the year we have had.  Great success in both our TISAC and BISAC competitions, along with a new exciting PE curriculum for the children to enjoy. We are now in preparation for another busy period up until the Christmas break.  Along with our busy football and basketball program, we also have more swim meets, an athletics meet and tennis tournaments for the children to prepare and look forward to.

This week we continue with our athletics lessons during lessons looking forward to some of them joining our Athletics squad to go and compete against the other Primary BISAC schools on November 9th.

The U11 Girls had a big game in one of their final games in the TISAC league.  They were victorious against PREP winning 20-7 and edge closer to the TISAC Championship.  As well as our U11 Girls game, we also have a BISAC fixture this week -  a friendly against ASB on Thursday, 2nd November.  Girls will be leaving at 2.15pm and going to their Green Valley Campus. The boys will be playing at their ASB campus on Sukhumvit 49.

Before the break we hosted Shrewsbury with the boys proving too strong, winning 19-11. The girls narrowly lost a tough game, going down one basket in the final 10 seconds of the game.

Also, our U11 Boys beat NIST with a powerful performance to overcome another BISAC school. Our Basketball teams are looking great for the NAE Games.

With no tournaments until the Harrow Cup on Sunday 19th November and then the Phuket 7s from 23-26th November, our teams are busy preparing.  Emails for the Harrow Bangkok Cup will go to the selected children by the end of the week. The squads are looking very competitive again this year and I look forward to seeing them compete in these tournaments.

Community Sports Day

STA Community Sports Day

On Saturday, 18th November, we’ll have our second Community Sports Day, open to all of our parents, staff and alumni. We are starting to prepare for this now with our PTG, who will provide food for the event.

The day will be held at High School, with volleyball, football and badminton on offer, as well a free swim and table tennis for the kids.

We’ve had many sign up, with several football and volleyball teams and lots of badminton players. If you’d like to be involved in the fun, please complete the survey contained in the email from Miss Aanchal or get in touch with her.

We continue our busy schedule this week with another four games, including TISAC League games and BISAC friendlies.

Flames Basketball Academy & Saturday Club

After our ling break, our next session will be Saturday 4 November.

We look forward to working on our defense and building towards our 5 v 5 tournaments at the end of the term.

Our team departs next Monday, 6th November, from school. We have five days in Phuket at the Thanyapura Sports Resort ahead of us, with Swimming and Athletics meets and Football and Basketball tournaments to look forward to.

The Games are always the highlight of our sporting year. Whilst we have many high-level competitions on our calendar now, the Games provide a multi-sport experience that is hard to beat. Our U13 sign-up had over 80 students register for about 30 places!
