Developments for 2017
After presenting at the BISAC AGM last week, St Andrews International School has received an invitation to participate in a large number of BISAC events in 2017-18 with a view to potentially joining in August 2018.
Together with our move in FOBISIA to compete with the biggest schools in Asia, this represents another major step forwards and we’re very excited by the challenges we face next year.
We will host 3 events for BISAC and we’ve already confirmed participation in additional events such as Track and Field, Duathlon, Cross Country and Volleyball hosted by BISAC schools.
We hope that the growth in our programme will engage even more STA students - currently we have well over 500 places available each week in our squads across all the sports, with 350 different students in training - and provide a more varied list of activities in which to engage.
3on3 Basketball Festival, Phuket
Last Saturday and Sunday, our U13 Boys and U15 Boys flew to Phuket to take part in the first 3on3 tournament that we’ve attended. This is an exciting FIBA approved format for the game involving one basket and teams of three.
Our U13s enjoyed nine wins from nine games on their way to winning the U13 bracket. The 15 A team enjoyed a 7-2 record in the group, and narrowly lost their semi before beating our own U15 B team for 3rd place.
Everyone had great fun and we look forward to sending more teams next year, as well as potentially hosting our own 3v3 at the new campus.
Saturday 3 June - U15B in the Youth Basketball Thailand tournament
Wednesday 14 June - U13B v Shrewsbury (away)
Thursday 15 June: U13G v Shrewsbury (away)
Primary FOBISIA Games
The Primary Games is nearly upon us. One final Teeball practice at Arsenal on Wednesday 17th May and then the team will head to Pattaya on Thursday 18th May. Then it is Swimming and Athletics on the Friday, Teeball on the Saturday and Football on the Sunday. The children have been exceptional these past 5 months and I hope they now can go and enjoy the Games and bring us back some trophies!
Reception Sports Day
What a great morning with the Reception children for their Sports Day. The levels of skill and hard work was brilliant to see. Thank you to the Reception teaching team for their enthusiasm and thank you to the Reception parents who turned up in their masses to make this a truly special STA community morning. Well done to Yao who finished in 1st place.
Harrow Football Festival
Well done to the 6 teams that represented STA on Sunday. The level of football our teams are playing was great to see and it’s down to the hard work of the children. It was a morning of ‘what could have been’ with all our Primary teams (U9G, U9B, U11G, U11B) coming so close in their semi finals, but in the end having to settle for 3rd place. Our U13 boys and girls both reached the final with our boys winning and the girls losing on the golden goal rule in extra time. Thank you for all the parents support once again and the brilliant support you give the children and the staff.
STA Community Sports Day
Thank you to those who have already signed-up for our Community Sports Day on 10th June. It will be a great deal of fun!
We still have some places available for Volleyball and Water Polo. These will be run as fun events with scratch teams (made on the day). There is no pressure to be an experienced player - I think that all of those signed up so far haven’t played since their High School days!
Please email Miss Aanchal if you’re interested or would like to know more.
