Parent Fitness @ High School
We’re keen to promote healthy activities for our STA parents as well as our students, and there are several opportunities for you to be involved too.
Fitness Centre: we’re hoping to have a Cross Fit trainer at High School for our students this term in our new, purpose-built centre. It would be great to have sessions open to parents in the morning and we’ll will be in touch soon to gauge interest;
Our Yoga Studio is up and running. Miss Jo is currently discussing parent classes with the PTG. I’m sure you’ll agree that it will be a great start to your day to hit the gym or go to yoga right here at High School! Look out for more details soon.
STA Community Sports Day: after our inaugural day last term, we’re planning to repeat the fun by having an early event so that new parents can get involved and everyone can try out our new facilities at High School. The Sports Day is for all parents and staff, and involves volleyball, badminton and football, as well as plenty of food and drinks. It was great fun in Term 3 and has even prompted a number of parents to come and play volleyball every Tuesday after school (starting tomorrow, 4.15pm at the Primary campus - all welcome!)
After the huge response for climbing, we will probably be running this as an ECA that will be seasonal (i.e. a different age group per term). Mr. Mick will communicate more details soon.
There will be late buses for anyone who has paid for the bus service and has signed up.
Once trials are complete, we will email squad lists home and information about other ways that your child can engage in sport at STA.
Please note that we use email for day-to-day communication regarding sports events. Please ensure school has an up-to-date email address for you.
We post regularly to the St Andrews Facebook page and I’d recommend liking it so that you can see photos of our teams out and about.
We send surveymonkey forms for many events. It would be much appreciated if you could be diligent about completing them, so that we have accurate information to pass to our Transport Department.
As we begin to form our many squads, we’re already planning some major experiences for STA Flames members. We have the U15 FOBISIA Games in November at the Thanyapura Sports Resort in Phuket, and we’re hosting the NAE South East Asia Primary Games in December. Mr. Damon will contact Primary parents soon about this.
We’ll be sending football teams as usual to the Phuket 7s in November, and entering FOBISIA Tennis also. We will also host our annual STA Swim Champs this term.
Please save the date for one of our annual swimming competitions that’s also our first big meet of the year, The STA Swimming Championship 2017, scheduled on Saturday 4th November 2017 at the new High School swimming pool. It will definitely be an event not be missed.
There are many games and meets in between and they can be found on the STA Sports Calendar on Google alongside our school one. If you have problems accessing this, please contact Miss Aanchal.
