High School: Welcome Back!

It’s already Term 2 at St Andrews International School Bangkok, and as we welcome new students to High School, we look forward to residential trips and mock exams week.

Welcome back and Happy 2018! I hope that you all had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday, wherever you were. A special welcome to the families of the 17 new students who started in the High School this morning.

As always, this will be a very busy term though, as you can see from the Calendar below, we are starting with quite a quiet week, with only the Tanzania Expeditions Parents' Information Evening taking place this week. This year’s Tanzania Expedition will be our fifth, and I am really looking forward to being one of the teachers accompanying the students this year.

Next week is our first ever Maths Art Week, with a range of creative activities involving the use of mathematics in art, including sierpinski triangles and pyramids, origami, Escher style tessellations, Mandelbrot and Julia sets and Koch Snowflakes taking place during lunchtimes, as well as Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings for Years 10 and 12 - parents of students in these Year Groups will receive more information about these, from Mr Rich and Mr Jon respectively, later this week.

The week after that is Residentials and Mock Exams Week - the third week of Term 2 and the nineteenth week of school, meaning that by the time the students are back in Bangkok after their Residentials and the last of Year 11 and 13’s Mock Exams have finished we are half-way through the school year...

In next week’s Newsletter I will attach a pdf of the full High School Calendar for Term 2, which I know many of you like to keep on your fridge or somewhere easily accessible. Please also remember that the full High School Google Calendar is also always available on the school’s website.

I look forward to seeing you all at the various event taking place throughout the term.

Roo Stenning
Head of High School
