Key Stage 2: Our international community joins together as one

International Day was a great celebration of our community...Year 3 overcome their fears of rock climbing at Rock Domain ...The flu vaccination programme returns this year.

International Day - another successful year

I would like to say a huge thank you and well done to everyone in the St Andrews International School Bangkok Primary Community for such an amazing International Day on Friday. There was a lovely atmosphere around the campus throughout the day. As always, the International Food Hall was a sight (and taste) to behold. Thank you to all of the parents who took the time to prepare this feast. Big thanks also go to the parents who helped organise the International dances and singing. There was an amazing buzz in the Y6 quad at breaktime.

Year 3 Scale New Heights

Year 3 have been climbing high over the last 2 weeks as each class took turns in going to Rock Domain, an indoor rock climbing centre in Bangna. The trip was inspired by this term's topic - Fit for Life - in which the children have been learning all about how the body works and how to keep healthy by eating the right balance of foods.

At Rock Domain, each of the classes was greeted by the lead instructor who first gave a safety demonstration on how to use the harness and ropes. He showed the children that even if they slipped when climbing, they would not fall as the instructors would be holding the rope at all times.

The children were then split into groups of 3 or 4, each with an instructor. They spread out around the large climbing areas and began their ascents. Each child got the opportunity to climb many times and they were all eager to climb higher on each attempt. Even the teachers got to have a turn.

I was scared to go high the first time, but then I realised I was safe and wanted to go higher on my next go. Neerav 3J

After a well earned rest for lunch, the children were ready for more and continued to work in their groups, trying different routes and walls within the centre. When it was finally time to leave, everyone was sad to go but left with a sense of personal achievement from pushing themselves to climb that little bit higher each time, whether that meant one more foothold or all the way to the top of the wall.

Well done Year 3!

Recycling Poster Competition

Mr Ewen and the School Council are organising a recycling pretty competition. This was inspired by the video made by our recycling champions - The Zero Waste Rangers (Rio, Mele, Kiri, Lana and Ma'u). The details are all below.

Fighting the flu at STA

Last year, we held our first ever flu vaccination afternoon at St Andrews International School Bangkok here at the Primary School campus. This was organised in conjunction with Samitivej hospital, whose staff came along to administer the shots. Last year was particularly bad for flu, so to help prevent this again this year and keep as many of our community healthy as possible, we will be running this again on Friday 16 November from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. This year, to simplify things, you can register online for the vaccination, which costs 590 Baht per person. Payments can be made on the day at school from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Please bring along your confirmation code - which you will receive once you've registered - and present it to the Samitivej staff before paying.
