Loy Krathong Festival

On Thursday 22 November St Andrews International School Bangkok will celebrate Loy Krathong. There will be two morning assemblies at our Primary School campus and one at the High School. We ask that everyone comes to school in traditional Thai costume, if possible, so we can create a very special atmosphere at school for all the activities our children will undertake to celebrate Loy Krathong.

ISAT Meeting

Last weekend I attended the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) Committee meeting in Chiang Mai. Currently I have the role of Secretary General of this organisation. Each year one of the committee meetings is held outside of Bangkok to show support for the international schools in other parts of Thailand. Therefore the 25 members of this Committee met at the Prem Tinsulanonda International School situated just outside the city of Chiang Mai. ISAT represents 140 international schools and has a range of subcommittees and subgroups working on many projects that help all international schools to operate effectively in Thailand under the direction of the Ministry of Education and OPEC.  At the meeting there was feedback from each of the subgroups and preparation for the upcoming ISAT Annual General Meeting, where the new Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau will speak to the membership on the topic of immigration policy to support International education.

Flu Vaccination in Primary School

Last two weeks you will have received an email containing the QR code for the flu vaccination programme being held at the Primary School on 16 November.

To clarify, this is for Primary and High School students, staff, parents and extended family and home helpers. At 590 baht it is a corporate rate and very reasonably priced.

This year, to simplify the process even more, Samitivej will run the booking process online. The system will issue you a booking number which you bring with you on the day of the vaccination. (Payments are to be made on Friday 16 November). Please note that teachers cannot take your child for the vaccination. This has to be done by a parent or guardian.

If you haven’t already registered please consider it now as the deadline for registration is approaching.
